Tis the Season

Tis the Season to...

Make homemade Christmas cards.

Get Christmas cards!
and hang them with clothes pins on an old shutter I found at Good JuJu.

Wrap presents...

with this really fun vintage ruffled wrapping paper from Anthropologie.
How is it that everything from Anthro is so unique & fabulous, even the wrapping paper!

Make chocolate covered pretzels...

for our homemade sweets and treats party at work!
I think I went a little overboard on the drizzle. Somehow my entire kitchen was drizzled by the time I was done making these.

coats, socks and mittens through Hope City with our small group. The girls had so much fun wrapping socks & coats for Hope City while the guys ventured downtown to give out blankets & minister to homeless folks.

Take lots of pictures...

with an early model of a Polaroid camera that A gave me as an early Christmas present! Woo hoo! This thing is fun!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Everything Happy Always

"It is good to be children sometimes, and never better than at Christmas, when its mighty founder was a child himself."
-Charles Dickens

Last night we decorated the tree, drank hot chocolate with marshmallows & dressed Samson up like a reindeer all while listening to Christmas music at the same time.We ended the night by watching Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Overall, we felt like little kids again :) So happy the Christmas cheer is finally here!

Time to Get Cozy

It's starting to get chili outside and time to get cozy. Because Samson has successfully eaten 2 pairs of my warm mittens, I couldn't resist getting these hand knitted gloves at Good JuJu today.

Dear Winter,
I'm choosing to have a positive attitude about you this year. Bring on the snow!

Give Thanks

This was our first time to host Thanksgiving at our home in KC. It was a delightful weekend! Here are some of the highlights:

The Table.
Andrew's homemade apple pie.    I thoroughly enjoyed wearing
                                                                                         the apron & being domestic.

Full & ready for a nap.

Carrot Cake & Pink Champagne Cake from Dean & Deluca. I love how they put glitter on their desserts! Dessert just seems to be more delicious when it sparkles.

                                            Loved spending the
weekend with family.                                 Dad loves his grand dog.

"Let us come into his presence with Thanksgiving..."

The Heart of Worship

It has been such a joy to play violin with Kasey and her band for a few of the worship services at her church. This girl truly worships in "spirit and in truth" (John 4:23-24) I have learned alot from her about worship and love that I have a friend in KC with who I can just get together and play violin, guitar, sing, whatever...just jam and worship the Lord. She has definitely helped me improve my guitar skills as well! Love this girl and her heart for worship.

"When the music fades, all is stripped away, and I simply come.
Longing just to bring, something that's of worth, that will bless Your heart.
King of endless worth, no one could express, how much You deserve.
Though I'm weak and poor, all I have is Yours, every single breath.

I'll bring You more than a song, for a song in itself, is not what You have required.
You search much deeper within, through the way things appear, You're looking into my heart.

I'm coming back to the heart of worship, and it's all about You, it's all about You, Jesus.
I'm sorry Lord, for the thing I've made it, when it's all about You, it's all about You, Jesus."

-Matt Redman, The Heart of Worshp

Favorite Places in KC

After living in KC for 2 1/2 years now, there are several places that have become my absolute favorite! If you come and visit there is a high possibility that we will end up at one of these places. These pictures have been taken over the past few years in KC. Favorite place number 1 is...

Good JuJu
Kansas City has alot of neat antique shops but Good JuJu surpasses them all. It's only open once a month and it's made up of 20 different unique vendors. Our little home has many Good JuJu finds!

Our favorite breakfast spot that happens to be conveniently located one block over from our home! It's an eclectic little hole in wall place that we love. Andrew's favorite dish: The Burrito of Love. And my favorite dish: The Kitchen Sink

I have never had fro yo as good as this. When Bexy came to KC to visit, this was our first stop. Samson loves it too! Too many yummy flavors to say my favorite.

Loose Park
The Fall leaves are beautiful here. It's a great spot to go for a wog (that's a walk/jog) or have a picnic.

Memorial Park
This one is right by our house. This is Samson's favorite place to take a walk and a beautiful place to take fun pictures.

Nelson-Atkins Park
Right by the Nelson-Atkins Art Museum. Clearly this is the best park to run and play!

My very favorite place.

Amazing A.

I have an amazing husband. Somehow he has managed to make it half way through his 3rd year of medical school and get his MBA at the same time. On top of that he makes it a priority to be involved with our church, spend time with our KC friends and spend quality time with me :) These beautiful flowers from A. showed up in my cubical last week.

And if that's not enough, A. diligently takes care of the yard work at our duplex and while he's at it, does all the yard work for the sweet elderly nun that lives next door! When returning home on Sunday, I and sweet nun next door came home to leafless yards!

A. also happens to be an amazing chef. He made these delicious homemade donuts for our small group last week.

Love you A. You are amazing.

God Bless Texas

Just got back to KC from a wonderful weekend in Fort Worth! It was so special to be a part of my childhood and forever friend, Maegan's wedding. She is such a beauty...

It was great to be back in Cowtown for a few days! I love Kansas City, but let's face it, I will always be a Texas girl at heart.

So you know you're Texas when...

The magazines are almost as big as you....everything is bigger in Texas after all :)

You know you're in Texas when...

Your chips are in the shape of Texas...

You know you're in Texas when...

You wave the Texas flag to send off the bride and groom...

The list goes on...but I'll end it with these wise song lyrics by Alan Jackson...

"God blessed Texas with His own hand
Brought down angels from the promise land.
He gave em' a place where they could dance
If you wanna see heaven brother here's your chance.
I've been sent to spread the message
Mmmmm God bless Texas!
