"I cannot even imagine where I would be today were it not for that handful of friends who have given me a heart full of joy. Let's face it, friends make life alot more fun."
Charles R. Swindoll
I can feel the joy of the season and so much of that joy is felt through the beautiful souls in our life here in KC. This weekend the joy of the season came to life for A & me by being with dear friends, turning up the Christmas music, and finally putting up the Christmas tree!
Our joyful weekend included...
dinner on the back patio...
KC office Christmas party...
and putting up the tree!
Stay jOyFuL KC!!

Still trying to come back to reality after spending a cozy Thanksgiving weekend with the Brochus. My heart is filled with so much thanks that I could go on forever about the people and blessings in my life for which I am so thankful. I am especially thankful for my hubby & both of our families and not a day goes by that I don't thank the Lord for each and every one of them.

It's crazy to think that soon we will know where we will be spending the next season of our lives for residency. It has been quite the topic of conversation around our house these days. There are so many unknowns about the next thing which makes it feel even more like an adventure. As of now we don't know where we will be in July 2013 but it's comforting to know that our Savior does. So for now and today we are asking for His guidance and trusting what He says and does. And in the meantime, I am thoroughly enjoying my favorite time of year in KC and kisses from A.

Today was the perfect day for apple picking with dear friends. Have you heard that old song that goes: "I love you, a bushel and a peck, a bushel and a peck, and a hug around the neck!" My dad used to sing that to me when I was a little girl and I never knew what a bushel and a peck was until today! It all came together for me when I saw the sign above the two different sizes of bags to gather apples that said: Bushel-$13 or Peck-$7. I learn something new every day I tell ya!

I am thoroughly enjoying my one night shift a week at Free People! It is a joy and privilege to work with these lovely ladies and learn from their fashion expertise. They are creative, individual, bold and free spirited FP girls! Let me tell ya these chics have style. Here are a few pics of me and my free friends hard at work. :)

"Sing like no one's listening, love like you've never been hurt, dance like no body's watching and live like it's heaven on earth."
This quote reminds me of my niece and and nephew Annah Grace and Austin. These two love life and live it to the fullest. They have so much love in their hearts and joy in their souls. My spirit felt rejuvenated after spending precious time with them this past weekend in Fort Worth. Here are a few pics from the weekend!

Dropped off A at the airport a few hours ago. This weekend went by way too fast...only a few more months of out of town rotations and we are trusting the Lord through it all.
We played around with my vintage SX-70 Polaroid Camera this weekend and considering that I have gone through several boxes of film and hardly ever have any turn out these actually turned out pretty well!
How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.

My big brother Brian came to visit me in KC this weekend which was a blast! Even though it down poured for about the first 48 hours he was here, that didn't stop us from bustin out the umbrellas and hittin up KC V.I.Lee style! As my nephew Austin would say: "That's just how we dooz it."

And since I'm blogging about my bro, I want to share a new song he wrote recently which has been the song/prayer on my heart for the last few weeks. Here's a recording of Bri and me singing/playing "Home."

When I wander Lord You always find me,
and show me how to get back home.
Love and grace, they serve to remind me,
in your arms I'm not alone, I'm not alone.
Heal my hardened heart Lord and forgive my sin.
Bear my burden once more and pick me up again.
Still my anxious thoughts and cleanse my soul.
Humble my heart and make me whole.
Let my life be a blessing to be used by You again.
When I'm weak and life gets too demanding,
and I am humbled to my knees.
The peace that passes all my understanding,
fills my heart so I can breath, so I can breathe.

So Andrew is in his 4th and last year of medical school! Crazy how time flies. This year for A includes doing rotations at many of the hospitals/programs at which he could potentially be doing his residency! Also meaning...being out of town alot. So I am treasuring every moment I get with him including the 1 day we got to spend together yesterday! So here is my day with A.
Went on a picnic and brought the film camera along!
Here are some of the film pics. I kind of love the ones that "don't turn out right".
We ended the day by going to Lills and celebrated my birthday a little early.
I miss you already A.
