The Real Med School Wives of KC

Last night we celebrated with our dear friends a day for which we have all been waiting and working towards for 4 years...Match Day. We hit it off with this crazy crew right from the start. Andrew, Tim, Jacob and Ben began their medical school journey together at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and with them came The Real Med School Wives of KC, Anna, Aly, Jetta and me ;) We are SO proud of our soon to be doctor hubbys and everything they have accomplished. 

In case you didn't know, med school is really tough (understatement). Stressful is perhaps one of the best words used to describe the whole thing from start to finish, but that stress is manageable when you have an amazing support group like the one we've had...which brings me back to The Real Med School Wives of KC, not to be confused with The Real House Wives of OC ;) These girls work hard, pay the bills, put food on the table, support our husbands and have fun doing it! Before we moved to Kansas City, I prayed that I would make close friends with other girls going through the same experience as me and that prayer was answered. We have played together, supported each other, loved each other and prayed for each other through it all and I have thanked the Lord for these girls over and over again.

As White As Snow

Three snow days! That's what we've had here in KC, and thanks to the world's greatest boss, who told me to stay inside and off the roads, I had three days to not worry about being anywhere but all cuddled up on the couch with a blanket, the 3rd season of Downton Abbey and a bottomless cup of coffee. 

As much as I dread driving in the snow and even more so, getting stuck in the snow, I so very much enjoy looking at it from our sun room window. It's amazing how snow can make just a normal city street with sewers & parking lots look like a beautiful fairy tale wonderland. And it's that very image of God's creation that actually reminds me the most of Christ's redeeming love. 

"...Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow." Isaiah 1:18 

Even though my heart is so cluttered with sin, it is by His death on the cross, that all He sees is the beautiful snow covering my sinful life and for that, I am forever thankful.

Last weekend was a dream because 1. my beautiful cousin (beautiful on the inside and out) Cara got married and 2. I got to spend the whole weekend with my family. I love this family more than I could possibly write a blog post about so I'll leave it at that. They mean the world to me. Here are some pics from the weekend!

It's Official!!!

It's official!!!! Today was the long awaited MATCH DATE and I am SO proud to announce that Andrew has matched with the Otolaryngology & Facial Plastic Surgery Residency program in Dayton, Ohio!!!! We give 110% of the credit to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who cares about the details of our lives, and brings us through difficult times and good times, all the while shaping & molding us into the people he has called us to be.  Andrew has worked SO hard for this day and it is so clear that the Lord has honored his hard work, perseverance and dedication. 

Thinking back to that summer in Waco, TX when Andrew was studying so hard for the MCAT to be accepted into medical school, this was the verse he quoted as his source of encouragement: Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." Andrew has continued to hold on to that promise throughout medical school and we want to continue to trust Him in that promise for the rest of our lives. 

Congratulations A! You're going to be a surgeon!!! Excited for 5 years of residency in Dayton with you!

Dear Denver

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr., we celebrated our day off in Denver with our dear Sherwoods. The air was thin, the food was good, the company was even better.  It's pretty awesome when your hubby has a sister who then becomes a loving & supportive sister to you, and then she marries an awesome person, which then creates this group of 4 peeps, who are guaranteed to have an awesome time whenever they're all together...which is exactly what happened. Here are some of our favorite moments of the weekend.
