Saying Farewell

It's not easy saying goodbye to a city we love...

It's not easy saying goodbye to people we love...

 It's not easy saying goodbye to a church and small 

group we love.

It's not easy saying goodbye to a job I love...

It's not easy saying goodbye to a home we love. 

But the time has come to say farewell...

It's a bitter sweet emotion to close the door to one season of life and open your heart to another with all things new and different. Our time in Kansas City holds so many memories, blessings, friendships & unforgettable moments. Throughout our time in KC, we experienced many challenges and growing experiences that helped form us into who we are today. We learned so much, grew so much, loved so much and it just doesn't seem real yet that we've left. We will always hold Kansas City and the relationships we built there close to our hearts. I've cried many tears since the time we found out that we would be leaving KC but there is a peaceful presence from the Lord that assures me that we are right where we're supposed to be, Dayton, Ohio. 

Somewhere on I70E, between Kansas City and Dayton, this song came on the radio and I was reminded of the truth that, in the midst of so much change, so many goodbyes, and so many unknowns, there is one thing I can always count on, and one thing that will never change, and that's the love of Jesus Christ.

I'm proud to say that last Saturday, my hubs graduated with a dual degree as Dr. Brochu, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Leadership. He will begin his residency next month in Otorhinolaryngology and Facial Plastic Surgery and I'll say it again, I am SO PROUD! He has entered a complex, demanding but yet rewarding life calling and I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing about the lives he will touch, the lives he will save, and the quality of life he will help imporve. Congrats A! I'm so excited to continue this journey with you.

Bless my hands as they grow stiff with age.

Bless my hands so that I may comfort the dying.

One Last Hurrah

...before the end of med school that is. I am confident that our future holds many more hurrahs with this crazy crew but last weekend the KC Crew (aka Ben & Aly, Jacob & Jetta, Tim & Anna, Andrew & Jenny) left a May snowfall in KC behind and ventured South where the air is warm, the sun is shinning and stars at night are big and bright, deep in the heart of TEXAS!

We spent the weekend at the Brochus' lake house soaking up the sun, (wearing 50 spf of course ;) comment made towards Dr. Barrick, soon to be Dermatologist), wake boarding, skiing, tubing, grilling, eating, dancing, canoeing, and most of all celebrating both the completion of medical school and our cherished friendship with each other.
